NAET, or Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques, is an alternative therapy aiming to tackle allergies and sensitivities in the body. Developed by Dr. Devi Nambudripad, a chiropractor and acupuncturist, NAET integrates principles from various healing modalities. This technique was discovered in 1989.
The main idea behind NAET suggests that specific substances causing allergies or sensitivities can disrupt the body’s energy flow, leading to various health issues and symptoms. These allergens can be anything from common foods, environmental factors, chemicals, to emotional triggers. NAET’s approach involves stimulating specific acupressure points or using acupuncture while exposing the person to the allergen, reprogramming the body’s response and restoring balance in the energy system.
Here’s a simplified explanation of how NAET works:
1. Testing: The process starts with identifying potential allergens through muscle testing or other diagnostic techniques. The practitioner aims to identify substances that may be causing allergic reactions or sensitivities in the person’s body.
2. Desensitization: Once the allergens are identified, the practitioner uses a gentle acupressure technique or acupuncture to stimulate specific points on the body while the person is in contact with the allergen (contained within a glass vial). This step is often called “desensitization.”
3. Reprogramming: The stimulation of these acupressure/acupuncture points is believed to reprogram the body’s response to the allergen, so it no longer perceives it as a threat. This process aims to restore balance in the body’s energy system and reduce or eliminate the allergic reactions.
4. Avoidance and Reinforcement: Following the treatment, individuals are often advised to avoid the specific allergen for a brief period to support the body’s adjustment. In some cases, additional reinforcement sessions may be recommended to consolidate the effects of the treatment.
